Praying To God? Which One?

 

There is a prevailing notion that worshippers of all religious faiths pray (or chant) to the same 'God of the Universe'.  Unfortunately, this is not the case.  For the sake of time & simplicity, I'm going to list the many biblical scriptures that make reference to a mulitplicity of gods & then I will provide the battleground context with which we all must become familiar if we are to be 'wise as serpents' according to the admonition of Christ.

 

For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night,

& will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt,

both man & beast;

& against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment... 

Exodus 12:12

 

Thou shalt not revile the gods,

nor curse the ruler of thy people.

Exodus 22:28

 

And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect:

and make no mention of the name of other gods,

neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.

Exodus 23:13

 

Thou shalt make no covenant with them,

nor with their gods.

Exodus 23:32

 

For the Egyptians buried all their firstborn,

which the LORD had smitten among them:

upon their gods also the LORD executed judgments.

Numbers 33:4

 

And it shall be,

if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God,

and walk after other gods,

and serve them, and worship them,

I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

Deuteronomy 8:19

 

They sacrificed unto DEVILS,

not to God;

to gods whom they knew not, to NEW GODS THAT CAME NEWLY UP,

whom your fathers feared not.

Deuteronomy 32:8

 

For great is the Lord,

and greatly to be praised:

he also is to be feared above all gods.

1Chronicles 16:25

 

God standeth in the congregation of the mightly;

he judgeth among the gods.

Psalm 82:1

 

Among the gods there is none like unto thee,

O Lord;

neither are there any works like unto thy works.

Psalm 86:8

 

For I know that the LORD is great,

& that our Lord is above all gods.

Psalm 135:5

 

For all people will walk every one in the name of his god,

& we will walk in the name of the LORD our God

for ever & ever.

Micah 4:5

 

The LORD will be terrible unto them:

for he will famish all the gods of the earth....

Zephaniah 2:11

 

Then God turned,

and gave them up to worship the host of heaven....

Acts 7:42

 

For though there be that are called gods,

whether in heaven or in earth,

(as there be gods many, & lords many,)

6-But to us there is but one God,

the Father, of whom are all things, & we in him;

& one Lord Jesus Christ,

by whom are all things, & we by him.

1Corinthians 8:5-6,

 

At this point in time, most people are familiar with the Genesis 6 passage that speaks about the mating of angels with earth women.  The book of Enoch goes into much more detail on the subject of the angelic rebellion, although there is minor mention of its consequences in the books of Peter & Jude:

For if God spared not the angels that sinned,

but cast them down to hell,

and delivered them into chains of darkness,

to be reserved unto judgment....

2Peter 2:4

 

And the angels which kept not their first estate,

but left their own habitation,

he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Jude 1:6

 

What we have to understand is that these entities are formidable adversaries & that they are warring on all levels for our hearts & minds as well as for coordinated control of the planet earth.  Although this battle between good & evil was presented to us as children in the fantastical imagery of biblical lore, the actual unfolding of its current reality is painfully serious & deadly.  Moreover, a major segment of the enemy's 'beast' system is in fact operating out of the very religious institutions we assumed were serving to protect & guide us to salvation.  The New Testament apostles went to great lengths to repeatedly warn Christ's sheepfold of this very danger.  When you read what they had to write, are you really paying attention?

 

But though we,

or an angel from heaven,

preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you,

let him be accursed.

Galatians 1:8

 

13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers,

transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

2Corinthians 11:13-15

 

Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels,

intruding into those things which he hath not seen,

vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind....

Colossians 2:18

 

3 Let no man deceive you by any means:

for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first,

and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God,

or that is worshipped;

so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God,

shewing himself that he is God.

5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan

with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;

because they received not the love of the truth,

that they might be saved.

2Thessalonians 2:3-5,10

 

There are 2 important considerations I'd like to point out from this passage.  The first is that, according to Paul, the latter day surge of satanic activity will engender an increase in 'signs & lying wonders'.  If you're of the opinion that one miracle is as good as another, you're going to have a real problem discerning the way to walk in.  Second, Paul is crystal clear that the true followers of Christ love TRUTH.  Finding people who love truth is a rarity in any setting & especially difficult in a religious setting.  This is what Christ said when speaking with Pilate:

 

....to this end was I born,

and for this cause came I into the world,

that I should bear witness unto the truth.

Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

John 18:37

 

To the genuine Christian TRUTH should be EVERYTHING!  NOT miracles!  My suggestion-stop ignoring those scriptures in the bible that make you feel uncomfortable & understand that they speak of critical aspects of the God you claim to be serving.  It's not an easy process, but it's where the love for truth must begin.  More importantly, it's where the love for God must begin.
