God Rewards Those Who 'Care'

 

The book of Revelation speaks about the angels placing the mark of God on the foreheads of his selected people to protect them from his wrath:

 

And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.  Revelation 7:2-3

 

A similar marking was given to a certain Judean remnant just prior to the Babylonian invasion of Jerusalem:

4 And the Lord said unto him,

Go through the midst of the city,

through the midst of Jerusalem,

and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men

that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

6 Slay utterly old and young, both maids,

and little children, and women:

but come not near any man upon whom is the mark;

and begin at my sanctuary.

Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.

Ezekiel 9:4,6

 

As you can see from this passage in Ezekiel, the mark of protection went specifically to those who were characteristically burdened for the welfare of their people & city.  Over a lifetime, I've heard so many Christians tell me that they weren't concerned about having to live through the end-time wrath of God because they were confident that they would be raptured out.  Unfortunately, however, I haven't met too many that were sighing & crying for the lost. Something to think about.....
